Many moons ago, an old friend, who had heard me say “I’ve got an idea” far too often in far too short a time, suggested — somewhat cynically — that I should buy the domain name Crazy Hare-Brained Schemes. I thought the suggestion a great idea. And so I bought it.
Since buying it, I have never done anything with the name, although I have had lots of ideas of what I might do, not least inspired by Hans Ulrich Obrist and Guy Tortosa’s Agency of Unrealised Projects.
But rest assured, even as I have not done anything with the domain name, I have had many many (many) ideas about other projects and schemes and plots since. {Some of which have become realised.}
One thing I have done since buying the CHBS domain name is that when I share my latest scheme or idea with a friend or a colleague, I begin by saying “Okay, here is CHBS #7856”. {Or another random number.}
At the moment, I have a lot of so-called CHBSs, projects I want to make real in the world and not let fall off my never-ending to-do list. And so, to not only document previous projects {realised and unrealised}, I am setting up the CHBS blog to keep track of them all, to act as a work-in-progress space to capture their development and hopefully help me push some of these projects out into the world.
Welcome. Let’s see how I get on.
